11/2/2016 0 Comments There was a fair amount of swearing under my breath on the way to the Tenquille cabin last weekend. The snow started on the Tenquille Creek branch approaching from the Birkenhead side. Not enough snow that we couldn't drive the road, but not enough to ski in the forest. We carried our skis for 1 or 2 km.

We did Tenquille Lake from the lessor known way back in late Aug, 2018 via Birkenhead Lake. All my research showed we could get within 3km of the lake to trailhead that way. Low and behold we get up the spur FSR off Birkenhead Lake FSR and find a gate right away!

Setting out from the parking area on Hurley River FSR, follow the trail south as it makes its way along the Branch 12 Trail. Tenquille Lake Trail is a beautiful forested area. The trail itself requires some light bush-whacking so visitors should be prepared for that. As well, this is a grizzly bear habitat. Please hike with caution and bring bear spray. Many visitors do this as part of a camping trip. You will have spectacular views and beautiful meadows.
